I have an older Portable Gem Lab, (Maxi-lab), from the GIA Gem Instruments. They no longer are making, selling, or repairing these. It was a very expensive unit in a haliburton case. The electronic control panel has malfunctioned and I am no longer able to use any of the unit. My main problem is the the
microscope is perfectly usable, except I am unable to get power to the unit. A local electronics repair shop used to repair my equipment for me. They have retired and I am at a loss for what I should do. I am an independent Gemologist and am stuck between a rock and a hard place.
The main problem is that the control panel provides power to my dark field illumination, and a fiber optic light source for over head lighting. If I cannot get the electrical system repaired for the lab, I need to find a compatible base that I can use my
American Optical pod with. Hopefully with its own light source.
Can you advise?
