water for 'water-immersion objectives'?

Postby charlie g on Sat Mar 12, 2011 8:54 am

Hello,I wish to buy 'water-immersion objectives' for freshwater pond-life observations. Please advise: 1) is type of water to use for the:'water immersion' that critical...or will just darn good clean water be alright?
2) I'm comfortable with the'shut down/clean procedure' when I'm finished with a session of: 'oil-immersion objective' use. What is your suggested 'shut down/clean procedure' for the water-immersion objectives?

Thanks for your thoughts...your store/support/this online resource is very helpful! charlie g

For pond water you should clean your water immersion objective with distilled water after use and wipe with the appropriate lens wiper. You can use 70% isopropyl alcohol for very scummy water but not to often as this may affect some of the components in the objective.
