Microscopy Adaptor SF-FA and t-ring

Problem: Unable to connect SF-FA to t-ring

Details:
I purchased the Lomo SF-100 scope, with the SF-FA accessory.

I need to use my Canon EOS (10D) DSLR with the scope.

I bought a t-ring adaptor (Fotodiox T/T2 Lens Mount Adapter for Canon EOS Mount Camera from Amazon.com), that does fit my camera.

However, when I attempt to connect the t-ring on the camera to the SF-FA, the threads on the scope appear to be coarser or different than the threads on the t-ring. In other words, the t-ring will not screw onto the sf-fa. What am I doing wrong?

I was told to call support on Aug 5th, and I will update this thread with the info I receive.

Update to my original post.

I was able to finally get the t-ring to screw onto the sf-fa.

After screwing it on until the t-ring stopped rotating, I mounted the camera.

The photos all appear out of focus. I am wondering if the t-ring is not fully seated onto the sf-fa.

Question:
Should the t-ring screw onto the sf-fa to the fullest extent? In other words, should the t-ring be screwed onto the sf-fa fully, so no sf-fa threads are exposed or unused?

I will call opticsplanet tech support and update this thread.

The T-ring should be screwed on to the fullest extent. Keep in mind that the camera has magnification of its own so it will be necessary to refocus.

I am not sure what you mean by " camera must...refocus". The only lens in the optical path is the microscope objective, which must be focused as normal.

Note that I had confirmed via email before the sale that I just needed the SF-FA and a t-ring adaptor to photograph, as photography was a huge requirement for me.

Now, The t-ring adaptor that I have (Fotodix t2-eos) mounts to my camera fine, but it refuses to screw onto the sf-fa beyond approximately one turn.

Is it possible that the male threads on the sf-fa are coarser than the threads on the t-ring adaptor?

Also, please confirm that the adaptor that I need is NOT the M42 adaptor.

I think the best approach for me will be for you to point me to an Canon EOS to SF-FA adaptor that you know works.

I have a call into extension 353 voice mail now, and I am waiting for a call back.

Update on this issue:

I have spoken to Robin and Paul, who both say that an ordinary t-mount should work to attach the canon eos to the sf-fa.

I am awaiting another call back.

Repeated calls to Opticsplanet has yielded no satisfactory explanation why the SF-FA adaptor will not mount correctly to a t-mount adaptor.

Paul D(?) advised he would have someone call me, yet this never occurred.

At this point, I can't photograph, which was a major priority for me. And it is a shame considering the SF-FA is a nearly $300 accessory.

I caution buyers to seek 100% confirmation that this issue will not affect them.
