which rings will fit my gun/ scope combo?
I have an AR-15 and after the numerous plugs from people and going down to a few stores to compare will be putting a Bushnell Elite 4200 on top of it. The AR is a flat top with a rail on the upper receiver and also about 3" of rail at the top and bottom of the hand guard.
I need some good durable rings that keep the scope low without hitting.

Hi,
Here's the deal with the flat top. Due to the shape and design of the AR-15, if you use a ring that is just low enough to clear the objective bell, the scope will be too low to look through. On a flat top, you need to use Extra High rings to have the scope in a useable position.
I recommend the Burris XTR rings in a extra high model 420183.

I ended up going with the Swift 4x14.5x44 scope because of the price. The rings suggested are on back order so I went to a local store to get some to use temporarily that I'll switch over to a .22 later. I grabbed weaver style Exta high (1") rings and the front of the scope is hitting my gun. Do I need to purchase a rail to go on top of my existing rail to raise it even more?

Hi,
Extra high rings should not allow a 44mm scope to hit, but you can always try the Rock River Arms Tactical Carry Handle to act as a riser block.
