weaver scope mount system for ruger super blackhawk

Postby jimb. on Mon Aug 20, 2012 9:08 am

First post here. I have a couple of Ruger Super Blackhawks (.44 Remington Magnum), one has a 7.5" barrel, the other is the Silhouette Model (10.5" barrel). With a caliper, I measured the outside diameter of each barrel, just in front of the handgun's frame (close to where the Weaver mount clamps around the barrel). The outside diameter of the 7.5" barrel is .781". The outside diameter of the 10.5" barrel is .783". Your site describes your Weaver 301 mount system is for the "Ruger Blackhawk". You description does not use the technicaly accurate term (Super Blackhawk). Therefore, I'm just making sure that your 48601 (black finish) and 48610 (silver finish) will fit my Super Blackhawks. Also, I'm assuming that the rings are for 1" tube scopes? How well does this system stand up to hard-kicking cartridges, such as the .44 Remington Magnum, and even harder-kicking cartridges, like the .454 Casull, etc.? Thanks much for your reply.

Jim,

Those mounts will fit both the Blackhawk and Super Blackhawk. Those barrel lengths will not be an issue, nor the diameters. Both have the same fit when it comes to a base/mount. In the mount system, those will also be 1'' rings. that setup will have no problem with a 44 mag. Bigger issue is making sure you choose a quality scope to hold up to the recoil. Leupold, Nikon, or the Bushnell Elite scopes would be excellent choices for a handgun scope.
