So you say that you have a mint pair of OP-523's, and that you got them from a retailer? I'll believe it when I see it. The model has been discontinued for 8yrs. I think OLIVER PEOPLES could replace the nose piece. But I will email them to make sure.

I have a couple pairs of high quality replicas. They are brand new, never-worn. They come w/ silver frame, reddish/orange lenses, just like the OP-523.

You will find that attention has been paid to every detail. For instance: the original OPs come with small screws that can be adjusted to to allow you to substitute lens pieces/colors. You'll notice in the movie that Pitt wear both the Gothic Rose color and a Blue color (not sure what the official name of the blue color is).

I realize there may be some replicas on ebay or other webistes, but I assure you that these replicas have been designed by a master sunglass craftsman, and you will find them to be higher quality than anything else out there (they rival construction quality of real OP 523s).

Those are the best replica's I have ever seen. I doubt that you could pull those off without facing some kind of copywright infringement penalty, but I'M NOT absolutely sure that you could face a lawsuit by replicating a model of sunglasses, or clothing. The photos could easily be photoshopped to remove the oliver peoples logos. im not saying youre a fraud, but I cant imagine the time and cost of replicating the OP-523. Are these sunglasses for sale? Is there a site where theyre available? What is the cost of these sunglasses? Im sure if you can get away with such a scam as replicating to such incredible accuracy, you would be mass producing them asap

the blue pants that brad wears in the movie are nothing more than just postal
worker pants you can buy them on the us post office website for short money
the red pants are just vintage polyester pants your grandpa probly has a few pairs lying around the house but finding those shirts he wears are damn near
impossible your best best is finding ones that are a close match because you'll
never find the real thing although i did find a real vintage sock it to me sweater they were popular in the 80's and the huslter mesh shirt

I can assure you I'm not a fraud (although I realize internet talk is cheap). You are correct in assuming that an amazing amount of time and expertise went into crafting a replica of such quality. Because of time and expense, I only had a few made.

Jimmy- I'd be interested to see a pair of your blue OP 523 lenses. Oliver Peoples discontinued the OP-523 SILVER frame in 2000, shortly after the movie's fall '99 release. The blue lens is arguably harder to come by than the Gothic Rose... will you post a pic if you have time?

The OP-523 were used for the film, and after the model was discontinued, they re-released the frame in 2000. That is most possibly the last release of the frame. a few spacemonkeys are not going to make OP recreate the frame, unless they make some kind of limited edition release. I dont know what you guys are taking about BLUE lenses. The OP-523 he wore on the escalator looked simply grey. I have a pair of Dita that are the same color. As for the Gothic Rose color. I work at the mall, and yestarday I visited 3 opticals. The closes anyone could get to gothic rose, was simply ROSE with a level 3 tint, which is a little more pinkish then red. No gothic rose, no blood red. Lense crafter didnt even offer anything close to red. I also went to a place called Cohen's fashion Optical where a young employee told me that they mite be able to door something like a dark red, but I doubt he is sure on that. What I was explained, is that the lense colors are created from a batter of dye. They have to create a whole new dye to get a specific color.

hey danyboy, since you seem to have quite a bit of knowledge of lenses and lens color & such, do you think it would be possible to bring in a nice pair of aviator-like sunglasses that I like wearing, and asking them to substitute a color like a gothic rose in for the current lenses?

i really liked the aviator look he was wearing from the plane almost as much as the 523's, and i don't see on the oliver peoples website a place where i can put that color into a pair of Aero's.

Man, I know that the Aero's can have their lenses replaced, but I dont know about having them changed to anything close to Red. I am going to include a couple of links where you can see that the Aero's Pitt wore in the film, were actually a BURNT orange color, and I will argue that fact. I do believe that since aero's are such high quality frames, they can have the lenses replaced.

I forgot to mention that given that there are pictures of Pitt wearing the Aero's at a gala, that is evidence that they could have been his personal pair. He wore several aero's after 1999 in different colors.

I understand your frustration with the way things are, and the way people are, but getting arrested and thrown in jail will not solve anything.

They say actions speak louder then words. Thats fine, but remember, they only thing you have in this world which people cannot take from you, are your thoughts and feelings.
