Microscope with the ability to see blood cells for 10 y.o.

MY DAUGHTER WOULD LIKE THE ABILITY TO SEE BLOOD CELLS. WHAT TYPE AND POWER MICROSCOPE WOULD YOU SUGGEST.
She's 10, but already has the mind set of a doctor...she wants to be able to dissect roadkill (I know, strange request for a 10 yr old girl) and view bacteria. So I'm not sure what strength of microscope she needs...could you suggest different ones and include their product # & price?

She also wants a chemistry set for Christmas.

Can't help on a chemistry set, but we do have microscopes.

Different types of specimens require different types of microscopes. Bacteria will require some fairly expensive and sophisitcated microscopes because of their small size. She's better starting with larger, easier to study specimens such as pond water and plant cells. For this kind of work, a modestly priced model such as the LOMO P-111 Modular Brightfield Microscope is a great choice. It can also be upgraded with accessories at a later date when she has more experience.

For larger specimens, like twigs, rocks, leaves, flowers and insects, try a dissecting microscope. These are lower power, but are also the easiest to use microscopes. There are no slides to prepare and you can stick just about anything under one, even road kills. Try the Meade Model 8300 Stereo Microscope for a good beginners stereo.
