| I'm looking at buying a spotting scope for long range rifle competition. Kowa 821, right? The problem is, I dabble a bit in astronomy, too. Now, given that the main purpose of the scope is a stationary spotter, and the other purpose is as a supplement to my son's 6" dob, would I be better off with the Kowa, or should I look at Orion's 127 Mak? The Kowa with the 27 LER eyepiece is the gold standard for competition scopes, but how will the mak with a 50mm Vixen eyepiece compare? The 50 mm should deliver about 31X, I believe. And no, I can't afford both (wouldn't be a problem then!) Advice and opinions appreciated. |
