I have recently purchased a Pentax k 1000 from a pawn shop. I'm having the hardest time finding the lever or button to open the film latch. Somebody please help me out.

Dear sir/madam

Thank you for taking your interest in www.Opticsplanet.com.
After getting in contact with Pentax, we found out that the lever for the Pentax K 1000 is located on the left side of the camera when the lens is pointing away from you.
