Does Pentax CS205 Cable Switch for Pentax ZX-L 35mm camera allow you to take picture while standing away from the camera?

Hi
The Pentax CS205 Cable Switch is only 1.7 feet long. You could, of course, use the timer to take pics away from the camera.
