Hi all,
My husband is an avid hunter and he wants to get a rangefinder. We love Nikon products, but he purchased a Leupold scope and loves it more than his Nikon scope. He has been looking at the Leupold X-II- X-IV and thinks he would like to have one of them.
I noticed on here that many of you prefer the Nikon 800. Please tell me the pros and cons of the Leupold X models and Nikon 800. I am getting this for him for Christmas and want him to be pleased. He is often hunting early in the morning and towards dark, so lighting is a concern. Ease of use is important from the tree stand as well.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks,

Hi
It will depend on his personal style as to which is best for him.
If he is into high tech, ballistic data, software options and so on, he'll love the Leupold. If he is not a computer type, he will hate the RX-IV. It is not the model to choose if you are afraid of complicated software and menu options. The RX screen keeps pace. It is saturated with data and menus and some people have compained that it is also hard to read.
The Nikon is at the other end of things. It is simplicity by comparison to the RX-IV. Press a button and the screen displays an easy to read number and nothing else. _________________ ----------------------
