I live in a neighborhood that has a long 2 mile parkway that has neighborhood 'Villages' off of it. The spped limit along the parkway is 25mph, however, since there are no homes directly off of the parkway, kids seem to think speeding is OK. In 2006 we had 12 accendents all resulting in injeries and 7 near misses reported of kids on bikes almost being hit (in all but one case - none of the drivers were local neighborhood residents). The local police do not think there is a problem, so they have asked us to prove to them there is one. We would like to build a mobile radar system that could record the speeds of cars passing by it. The computer to record the informaiton has already been donated and an enclosure of any size is on reserve (again donated). What pachage of products do you have that would allow us to capture continuously vehicles speed (radar), communicate to a laptop (data cable -serial or USB) and capture the data (software). Our budget is not very large so price is an issue. Our longest straight distance of road we have is about 500 ft, shortest is a tight bend in the road with a distance of about 20 ft - if this informaiton is needed. 110 volt AC power is available at the locations we would like to set this unit up at. This is a 'undercover' operation so no external displays are needed. Thanks for your help.
