Hi Joanie,
I just sent Yuri an email about the HG. Wish me luck.

I love my Kowa 8x32. Bright, crisp and clear. Saturday night I was showing them off to a friend. We were looking at the moon. With the naked eye the night sky was bright and clear. As I peering at the moon through the Kowa I notice a tiny star just off to the right. When I looked without the optics I couldn't see it. I'm sure it could have been seen with lesser optics but I doubt it would have been so clear. Wink

Now, to my question: A compact tripod and adaptor, what would you recommend? The use would be star gazing and stable sight seeing.
thanks,
Chris

PS:
Would it be possibe to make the Verification sequence in lower case?

Hi Chris

For an adapter, try a slim profile model such as the Pentax 69554, http://www.opticsplanet.net/pentax-binocular-tripod-adapter.html This is ideal for roof prisms like the Kowa.

By compact tripod, do mean height or weight? In an inexpensive, full size model, I like the Bushnell 784030, http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-advanced-tripod.html It has no QR plate, but it is all metal and well built - a rarity on a tripod under $100. It will easily handle your Kowa without weighing you down.

Hi Cris

A QR plate allows you to snap the instrument - camera, spotting scope and so on - on and off the tripod without having to unthread the instrument each time. The QR plate is left on the instrument or, in this case, the bottom of the tripod adapter. It's a conveninece item which speeds up the attachment process, but not a big deal for your application, since you won't be using your bino on a tripod that often.
