I am looking for a set of night vision goggles for night play scenario paintball. My main criteria is being able to take a hit from a paintball, not getting damaged from a direct spotlight beam, ability to play in the rain and be able to spot camo wearing paintballers in the woods. I don't want to spend a ton of money but I can sell off some other gear, and at the most come up with a little less then three thousand. If there is something that meets the criteria for less then I would rather go with that. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi

That kind of a budget would put you into a standard PVS7, Gen 2 goggle, such as the ATN, http://www.opticsplanet.net/atn-high-performance-night-vision-goggle-pvs7.html or a Gen 3 NVG7, http://www.opticsplanet.net/atn-night-vision-goggles-nvg7-gen3.html

Keep in mind, though, that when you are using the IR, someone looking directly at you will se a red glow. Taking a direct hit from a paintball on the goggles can damage them and taking a direct light from a spotlight can put you temporarily out of action. There is no product that allows you to escape all these hazards.
