Lake navigation

I'm considering a NVD to use to recognize usual daytime shoreline landmarks when finding my way home at night on the lake. Usually 100=200 yds offshore. Will I be able to recognize different buildings and docks with a gen 1 device If so, what magnif/ brand scopes do you recommend?

Hi,

Most likely not with a gen 1, unless the shoreline is well lit. To be able to recognize detail at that range, you are really looking more to the upper end of Gen 2 and better off with a Gen 3 night vision device. I would look at the ATN PVS-14 Night Vision Monocular.
Best regards,

Ryan W.
