I'm new to night vision and looking for the right product to take to Africa for day and night use, that will accomodate a camera, in the $1000 range

Hi

There is no one product that will do it all.

For daytime photography, choose an SLR with a telephoto lens or a camcorder with the appropriate zoom magnification.

For night work, the best choice is one of the current digitals, such as the Yukon Ranger. Not only is this the best value in terms of NV performance, it is also one of the easiest units to hook up to a camera since it is equipped with a video jack. Connect any digital camcorder or camera also equipped with a video jack via an RCA cable and start taking pictures.
