gen 1 and gen 2
how much better is gen 2 than gen 1? i know gen 1 is not good in very dark conditions, and gen 2 is better, but how much better.

Re: gen 1 and gen 2
The biggest jump in performance occurs between Gen 1 and gen 2. Going to Gen 2 gets you better range, in general. Specifically, Gen 2 gets you
1)considerably better light amplification - can operate without an IR under quarter moon
2)better resolution with much better optical screen quality, with none of the fish eye distortion found in Gen 1
3)extended tube life
4)1970s technology, instead of 1960s technology
5) instant off when powered down
6) most come with automatic circuitry shuttoff to protect against bright light
