I live in Southwestern Montana in a valley surrounded by the Rocky Mountains. Deer come through the yard all the time. Occasionally I've seen elk and moose. There are signs of bear and mountain lions but I haven't seen them.
I'm looking to buy a night vision monocular that that will allow me to see to the back of my yard at night. The distance is somewhere between 50 and 100 meters. I don't want to spend more than $300.
Any advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, John

Re: Night Vision Monoculars
Hi John
Traditionally, that price gets you a Gen 1 monocular, which is never going to offer more than minimal performance, but under good conditions, will usually allow you to detect large animals out to 100 yards. Stepping up to Gen 2 usually means $1000 plus. Nothing in-between in traditional NV
The big push, today, though is digital and a good digital is a far better value in terms of performance. That same $300 will get you a much better NV in a digital, such as the Bushnell Stealthview or Yukon Pantom, both of which are closer to Gen 2 than gen 1 and offer better optics and resolution than any Gen 1.
