i have a night owl moonocular and the green illumination stays on after i turn it off...i've been removing the battery and it still takes a minute for the illumination to fade off...like a leaky capacitor or something...is this normal? i'm new to this...thanks for educating me

That is actually normal for a generation 1 unit. All gen 1 units take a a few seconds to warm up and take anywhere from 30 seconds to a few minutes to completely power down. Even after you flip the switch, the screen will stay green but will eventually go completely black.
