Gen 2 recommendation
I'm interested in a NV device for hunting. From what I've read there Generation 2 seems to be a significant improvement over Gen 1, and I think I'd be willing to pay the extra bucks to get the potential clarity out beyond 100M. Can you recommend a good Gen 2 device, that's as cheap as possible.

The Pulsar N550 is the way to go. For about $1400 you are getting a digital NV scope that is better than most gen 2 scope and rivals some gen 3. I have been fortunate enough to try almost all the gen 2 scope, monoculars, binoculars we have and this N550 from Pulsar beats them all out. You will have a realistic recognition range of about 175 yards with decent conditions. It also has a few different reticles to choose from and the choice of a white or black crosshair. Digital NV uses a black and white image which is also great for color contrasts. I think youd be quite happy with this unit.

The N550 is a digital night vision riflescope and the Recon 550 is a digital night vision monocular. The Recon is designed to be handheld where the N550 is solely designed to be mounted on a rifle.
