night vision best for under 1000.00

I am new to night vision and or thermal but need to outfit at least one battle rifle with one or the other for night time hunts and want to stay under a thousand dollars would like the highest gen quality and the best feature like auto dim etc to protect the unit and dont want an ir beam to give up my position if that is really the case???? Well, at under $1000 you will likely be in Generation 1 night vision products. There are a couple of digital models that are in that price range or a bit higher that are equal to about Gen 2+. One is from Pulsar: http://www.opticsplanet.com/pulsar-digisight-n550-digital-night-vision-riflescope.html that is a really cool product for the price that is loaded with features. As for the IR glow. it is quite dim and only visible at short ranges, and many animals are not able to seee it.
