Yukon Viking? Good Choice?

Postby fruitcop on Tue Jul 10, 2007 10:09 pm

Hi, I'm looking for a new night vision device. I have been looking at the Yukon Viking model 25023. I prefer the way it looks, in the form of a binocular, but have been reading good things about the Yukon digital model 28041, but it is a monocular. Which is the better choice for casual use? If I go with the 25023, is the "pro" model worth the extra money?
Thanks
Robert

Hi

An NV binocular will offer more viewing comfort, but will not offer any more performance in terms of range or resolution than a monocular. Since most NV use is intermittent - spot and look - rather than continuous, most users are well satisfied with a monocular. NV binos have the same tube as NV monoculars. They are more expensive only becuase they have two optical systems.

I would easily choose one of the new generation digitals such as the Yukon Ranger or Bushnell Stealthview over any Gen 1 unit in terms of optics and performance. Best value going, right now, in night vision.
