Good fit for a .306

I have a .306 ruger and I was thinkning of the ATN 4-12x60LU to mount on my ruger for hunting white tail at about 300 to 450 yards.
Do you think this would be a good fit. I already have an ATN 5x33LU which I am very happy with on my AR and wanted to get another scope.

The scope weighs over 2.5 pounds. If you can deal with that you need to mount it. Leupold lists a 30mm super high ring #51043 which may fit, but I can't tell you for sure. Burris lists a weaver adapter #410990 that will let you use the supplied rings which may be the best option.
