| bought the bushnell northstar goto online at ebay. New in box. Product did not come with the cord for the hand held goto part. Received the cord from the seller and the goto to part still will not come on. Tried other cords and numerous batteries and the unit still does not come on. I am not sure if we are doing something wrong. Plz help. |

A few things to check:
1) The cord *looks* like a standard phone cord, but it has all four contacts connected, while most phone cords only have two. If they just sent you an off-the-shelf phone cord, it might not work. The Bushnell cord is a black, coiled cord about 1-1/2 feet long (unstretched). Look carefully at the connectors on both ends to make sure each has four metal contacts.
2) The cord must be plugged into the *left-hand* jack on the hand-controller (as viewed from the front of the controller).
3) The "ON" button is located on the NorthStar mount, not the hand-controller. It is directly below the battery door. Press it to turn the unit on, at which point the display and buttons will light up red (for night vision), it will announce "Welcome to NorthStar" and automatically level the telescope.
I'm still learning mine, so let me know if this helps.
P.S. In my previous post I mentioned that the clock/calendar for earth-align mode does not keep time and must be manually set each time you turn the unit on. I didn't mean to imply the scope won't automatically track objects as they move across the sky, only that the parameters for time and date do not automatically update as time passes. |
