Bushnell Scout vs. Yardage Pro

Postby RYac on Tue Jan 13, 2009 12:56 pm

We have a number of Bushnell Yardage Pros and are considering getting one Scout because for what we are doing, we can't get the distance we need:

We are using the Yardage Pro to get a distance for vegetation (shrubs and trees) away from the road.

Is the 5 x 20 v 5 x 24 difference going to make us happy?

Which model of Yardage Pro are you using? The Scout has basically the same ranging performance as the Yardage Pro Trophy and Legend. You will probably need to move up to the Elite to realize a significant difference if one of those is not working. Check the specs for reflective distance and use as a relative, not literal, basis of comparison.

The 5x20 or 5x24 have nothing to do with ranging performance - last number is simply the size of the front lens in millimeters. You should also try a reading on an object with more substance, such as a specifc tree, boulder or rock. Getting a reading on general vegetation is often not enough of a solid target. I'd try that before buying another LRF
