Need Help Choosing a Range Finder for a Gift

Postby Hassinator on Thu Apr 23, 2009 7:53 pm

I want to get my father a range finder as a gift. He'll be using it for turkey hunting with a shotgun. I need to keep the cost under $300. 2 models that I have looked at are the Bushnell 800 Yardage Pro and Bushnell Scout 1000. But I can't figure out what the exact difference between the two models. Both models are priced at $200.

Does anyone know the difference between these 2 models, and would you recommend them for what they will be used for. Or is there a different range finder that you would recommend that would do the job better? Thanks

The Bushnell 800 is an older model, now available only as a demo. It is larger, bulkier and does not quite measure up to the performance on the newer Scout 1000. Go with the scout 1000 for the same price. Not waterproof, howver, and I do recommend that feature for any kind of hunting. A better choice is the Nikon Monarch 800
