what is the best bang for the buck archery/rifle range finder.

Hi,
One of my personal favorites is the Nikon Archer's Choice. This model is specific to archery and has angle compensation for bow hunting from a tree stand.
Also, the Leupold RX-II is a great priced model that has both bow and rifle modes for the angle compensation.
