Golf AND Hunting?

Postby MtneerChris on Wed Feb 03, 2010 8:17 pm

I am looking for a rangefinder to use for hunting and golf. I hunt only with rifle and shotgun so any features for bow hunting are probably not needed. So what does everyone recommend in the $300 range? Please help!!!

Hi

If you are looking for a rangefinder that you can use for both golf and hunting, you will need to get into a unit that gives you the option of selecting near-target priority (golf) and distant target priority (hunting). If you choose an inexpensive dedicated golf LRF, you only get near-target, so your LRF will try to take readings on the brush between you and the deer, rather than the deer beyond the brush. If you choose an inexpensive hunting LRF with only distant target priority, your LRF is forever trying to take readings on trees and objects beyond the flag, rather than the flag, itself and that will drive you nuts.

A great choice in an LRF that has both modes is theNikon 800 Monarch. This model has been around a long time and has one of the best track records of any LRF on the market.

I'm looking at a Bushnell Yardage Pro 750 Rangefinder. I can not find out anything about it. Not even from Bushnell. It is like it never existed. It is not even listed on OpticsPlanet. I need to know what it sells for so I know whether to buy it or get ripped off on it.

It was basically a budget Bushnell LRF, closeout, selling for under $200 when new
