Difference between a rangefinder and a spotting scope?

Postby TheCorporateWriter on Thu Dec 14, 2006 8:19 am

Please help me order a Christmas present!

What is the difference between a rangefinder and a hunting scope? I want something that is used independtly of a gun. In other words, I want something that doesn't mount to a deer hunting rifle but can be used to determine the distance from a deer (or some other object).

I was looking at the Bushnell Yardage Pro Trophy Laser Rangefinder 202018. Is that what I need?

Also, would it be better to get something that mounts on a tripod (if possible) or carried in a pocket?

(BTW, I bought my husband a Bushnell night vision monocular for his birthday a month ago. He is not a "gadget" guy but he thinks it is WAY cool! :D

Hi

Out in the field, you don't need or want a tripod for a laser rangefinder.

The Yardage Pro is exactly the type of product you are looking for. Good job.
