Range Finder for 500 - 600 yds., for big game & varmits.
what is a good stand alone LRF? I am planning on using it out to 500 - 600 yds., for big game & varmits. I live in PA but do hunting out west. I own Leupold & Busnell hunting scopes & like them both..but it does not have to be one of their brands.

Hi Rea
In practice, you will have to target a larger, nearby target beyound 300 yards or so, regardless of the LRF. A deer or even an elk is just too small a target at those distances.
The Leupolds are good LRFs, but the screen and the program on the RX is very complex and busy. If you like the techno approach, this is great, but if you want something simpler, the Bushnell Elite, is a great rangefinder.
