An evening lask week I went on a hunt in an open area where we saw several deer 200 yards away in the shade of a bunch of thick trees. We had about 45 minutes before sunset.
I had my Zeiss 8X20 Victory binos and could not tell if a particular deer was a buck or doe. My buddy had me look through his 3x9-40 Buckmaster scope at 9 power. I could see less detail with that scope than I could with my little compacts. Aside from me should have taken my 10x43 DCF SP in the field (it was a last minute offer to hunt) what is the next price point up on rifle scopes that would have yielded detail or horns vs ears at that range?

Re: Buckmaster Optic quality
Hi,
Depending on the light conditions, you're going to need to make a big jump up. The Zeiss Conquest series scopes would be a great option for brightness, and you will want to go with higher magnification to see details better. You might want to check out the Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50.
