red dot scope for older Remmington

Postby billk on Mon Oct 12, 2009 2:42 pm

I am new to shooting, and now have an older Remmingtom Matchmaster (in almost perfect shape!) that has a scope. Is there an adapter that would allow me to mount a red dot scope on this for plinking? The gun does not seem to have a rail of any kind or a dovetail for a scope to grasp.

Hi,

You mentioned that the rifle already has a scope mounted to it. How is it mounted? What style base is on the rifle? This will determine what style of red dot can be used.
Best regards,

Ryan W.

The scope of the Remmington (Matchmaster 513-S)is a Weaver K-25, and it has brackets that are attached to the scope. In the front of the scope, there is a bracket that goes down and is attached to the top of the barrel with a large screw. The back end is attached to a bracket that comes down and attaches to the left side of the gun (looking from behind) opposite the bolt mechanism.

This might be easier if you send us some pictures of the setup. If you have a digital camera, or access to one, take some pictures and email them to sales@opticsplanet.com. This will help me determine what we need to do for a mount, or if we can find a red dot that will fit your existing mount.
Best regards,
