Best Riflescope for Remington 700 ST 7MM

I have a Remington 700 Synthetic Stock 7mm that needs a scope. I live in Central Florida and will be deer and hog hunting. The distance of my shots should consist of 100 yds to possibly 300 yds. I may however move or go to hunt more open range states where the shot distance could be longer. Can anyone help me with advice for the best possible scope choice and brand. I'm looking to spend no more than $300 for a scope.

A 4-12x40, such as the Bushnell 3200 Elite will handle any job out west and also do a good job at shorter ranges.

Joanie, what are you thoughts on the Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 SF? My first Remington 700 7MM had a 3-9x40 Nikon Buckmaster on it and I like it. The gun however was stolen when my car was stolen. So, now I'm needing a scope now that I've replaced the rifle. The Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 SF was the one I was thinking of going with. Do you think the Bushnell you suggested is a better scope????

In my opinion, the Elite 3200 is a better bargain in terms of overall quality, but the Buckmaster is certainly a good choice and the better value in terms of features. Have no hesitation recommending it for the price.

joanie, what about the mounting? Any suggestions on the best mounting needs for the scope??
