3-9x32 Pentax SL vs 2.5-10x32 Sightron S2

Postby Hogkiller on Wed Oct 28, 2009 2:02 pm

Not to look out of porportion with the rifle, looking for a more compact but longer ranged higher variable scope for a 300 WSM Ruger Frontier carbine. Because of its scope size, the 2x7-33 VX2 is the more popular choice for the carbine. Need to keep the objective bell at 35mm or less to avoid any removal of the scout mount base mounted on the barrel.

Aside from Leupold as I`m very familiar with them, what about these two more compact variables which I`m not familiar with? How would the 3-9x32 Pentax Lightseeker SL @ $359 compare optically with the 2.5-10x32 Sightron S2 @ $282.

Would the Pentax compare optically to the VX3 or VX2?
And does the Sightron S2 compare optically to the VX3 or VX2?

Thank you!

Hi cannot comment on the above two as I haven't used either but I have a couple of Burris pre Timberline that I use for competetive airgun shooting and hunting they have been replaced by the Timberline range which apparently is the same scope just assembled in the Philipinnes for half the cost. http://www.opticsplanet.net/burris-timb ... 01344.html

They are very good optically, the reticle is very useful, they have more magnification range they have 1/8th clicks and most of all they have adjustable AO.The optics are superb but your head has to be in the right place or the scope lets you know

Downside is that a lot of people suffer with the eye relief.

Bit of a review here http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=309991

Good place to ask glass questions is here http://www.opticstalk.com/

Good luck with your purchase.
