m4 cal 22 riflescope mounting ring height

Postby paraboom14 on Thu Oct 29, 2009 11:42 pm

i'm a newbie about rifles and just got recently M4cal 22 OPS rimfire rifle. want to install riflescope weaver 3-9 x 32 with AO. The M4 cal 22 OPS(with RIS) had a fixed front sight. Please advise a suitable riflescope mounting rings high enough that the front sight will not interfere when viewed from the scope.

Thanks for all your expertly advise.

Hi,

For all flat top AR-15 variants, you will need Extra High rings to mount any scope, regardless of whether you have a front sight post. The design of the AR-type rifles has the barrel in line with the stock, and this requires an extra high mount to bring the scope up to the proper viewing height. You can physically mount a 3-9x32 scope on low rings, but you will not be able to get your eye low enough to see through it on a flat top AR. For a scope with a 1" tube, I recommend the Burris XTR rings in a 1" diameter Extra High height.
Best regards,

Ryan W.
