Re: Ruger 10/22 Target Scope?
I mounted a Nikon 4X on my Ruger 10/22 deluxe Sporter and love it.
Thinking about buying another for a new Marlin 39A I just bought.

Re: Ruger 10/22 Target Scope?
I always like a 4x on a .22, with the minimal range of the round it reminds you that if you need 9x power then you should probably be holding a different weapon. LOL I just like the fixed power on a .22. I have tried the 3-9 and red dots for plinking, but I really like the scope I have been using on my 10/22 for the last three years, which is a cheap BSA 4x32 fixed power and it is a tac driver believe it or not ! That scope cost $30 and if I dropped it from my balcony and it smashed into peices I would just buy another without a tear shed. I rarely use the .22 though since the intro to the .17 HMR, I could never say enough about that round ! Anyway i think that a .22 is going to be used for very close to maybe 75 yards on average and I see no reason to have a variable power more than 4x for that. Just my opinion, Hope it gave you some help. FYI I looked and the scope on my 10/22 is a BSA .22 special. I have 3 BSA scopes and have never had a problem with any.

Re: Ruger 10/22 Target Scope?
It would help to know what size of targets you will be shooting. To illustrate - I have one .22lr rifle that has a fixed 4x scope and is used for general purpose plinking at all ranges and paper shooting up to 30 yards. I also have a .22lr rifle that has an 8-32x scope on it. It is used for shooting very small targets at long ranges (paintballs, 9mm cases, etc.), and also makes it easy to shoot sub-MOA groups at 100 yards. You can't do that with a 4x.
