Scope help for S&W M&P-15 .22LR
Love the gun, any advice on a decent scope for plinking that goes with the AR look of the M&P 15. Sub $300 thanks for any advice
Day time target shooting 25 to 100 yards, would like to keep the scope short in length and match the style of the gun....

I have a 3-12x Leaper's SWAT w/sidewheel focus on a TacSol .22lr upper/RR lower, and it works very well, both in style and in function. I also like the 30mm tubes over the one inch tubes as well. It's short 10.5" length also looks much better on a carbine than does a traditional scope.
The Millet DSM might be in your price range as well, but I don't know how close it will parrallax. The nice thing about the Leapers is that it focuses very easily with the sidewheel (even easier if you get the larger accessory sidewheel), and down to as close as 10 yards.
Bushnell also used to make a tactical styled scope in their Trophy lineup that had a 30mm tube and an illuminated reticle. I think is was 1.5-5x or so. Also looks very good on a black rifle. Don't know if they still make it, but it's worth searching for.
There's others, but time is limited at the moment.....

if you want magnification and not gonna use your irons... i put a leupold mark ar 1.5-4x on my s&w m&p 15-22 A1. works great and looks fantastic on the rifle (imo). small compact and pretty light, its close to ur $300 mark and a little over with good rings. but i found it perfect for my 22lr. if you want higher mag you might need a bigger scope. i just wanted something light and compact from a name i trust. the rifle is so light as it is, i didnt want to weight it down. a buddy of mine has a vortex strikefire red-dot that has a decent cowitness on his 15-22.
fyi... i cant stop shooting the thing. thank you s&w.
