Help with CZ Lux or FS Please

Postby Fotheringill on Tue Jun 19, 2012 11:56 am

I am brand, spanking new to bolt action and scopes. I will be purchasing a CZ Lux or FS within the next week if I am able to get answers to some very basic questions on the assumption that the rifle will already have open iron sights from the factory ( I would like the option to shoot with and without the iron sights ), I do not hunt and will shoot anywhere from 25-100 yards (possibly 200 yards) at a range only and that I will need something that will fit a .11 dovetail on the rifle. I would rather not have to go to a gunsmith to install. I will not be shooting at night.

1. Am I correct that I will need a scope mount, scope rings and the scope?

2. Is there a clearance problem for the bolt while chambering and removing the bolt for cleaning? If so, is there something on the market that will mount higher and be appropriate for the rifles above? If so, how high a mount or rings will I need? This is a major concern. I have read in this thread that some scopes will be hit or be very close to getting hit when the bolt is opened.

3. If the scope is removed, are there any that will reset to 0 when reinstalled or will it have to be zeroed in each time I reinstall the scope?

4. Will any rings mount any scope or are they scope specific?

5. I am not looking to spend more than $200, give or take a few dollars for the scope. Are there any for short range shooting in this price range with the above criteria.

Okay, so you are looking at purchasing a .22lr CZ, correct? I think you will enjoy the shooting experience much more if you add a scope with at least moderate magnification. Do yourself a favor and buy a scope made for use with rimfire rifles. There are some excellent models available from Nikon and Bushnell in your price range. http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-prostaff-rimfire-3-9x40mm-riflescope-matte-w-bdc-150-reticle.html and http://www.opticsplanet.com/bushnell-super-banner-3-5-10x36-riflescope.html and get some decent quality rings to fit the 11mm dovetail - Warne .22 rings and Leupold Rimfire No-Tap rings are excellent. Unfortunately, there will be no reliable way to take the scope/rings on and off and retain zero. The CZ normally does not pose many mounting problems, but you might want High rings just to be safe and allow a little extra bolt clearance.
