Compact vs Long Scopes

Postby Absit on Wed Jun 27, 2012 6:22 pm

I'm just a little confused on how some scopes are 8" and some are 12" with the same magnification and other similar specs. I'm looking at scope for a 10/22 Takedown and I don't want the scope to extend farther forward then the receiver when it's broken down. I have a cheap $20 NCStar 4x right now that's a good fit but I don't know what the parallax is set at and it seems blurry after I've been shooting for a while (probably from being out of focus and my eye having to correct).

I don't mind the 4x mag, 3-9 would probably be better but I really want to keep it from making the halves of the rifle (when taken down) any longer. Primary purpose for the rifle is small game.

It really depends on the manufacturer and how the scope is designed and the dynamics of the glass that is selected. Unfortunately, the only way find the scoope tha will meet your criteria is to review the specs on each one.
