HELP - Remington 700p w/ Leupold Mark 4

Postby jisnis on Tue Aug 14, 2012 4:57 pm

I’ve just ordered my Remington 700 police (26”) and also ordered my Leupold Mark 4 (30 mm) and wanted to know which Leupold rings and mounting base (20 MOA) will fit my rifle the best? I’ve read on here that everyone with a 700 is going with the Medium rings, is this assumption correct? Also, would a 2 piece base be more beneficial since I have a bolt action? Any drawbacks to 2 piece?

A lot of newbie answers but I wanted answers specific to my setup. Links too if possible. Would like to purchase these ASAP as my rifle is set to arrive Friday.

Thanks in advance.

No cons at all to a 2 piece base. What can be beneficial with a 1 piece rail style base is more mounting area though. You can find the Mark 4 bases here. As for rings, that really depends on your objective size and barrel weight. if you have a 40mm objective, you can use low rings, 50mm requires high rings. If you have a heavy barrel and a 20 MOA base you will want at least mediums. If going with the Mark 4 setup, you don't need a 20 MOA base because the Mark 4 rings have a 15 MOA cant built in.
