Nikon M-223 mount Height

Postby bookbound on Thu Sep 27, 2012 7:15 pm

What is the measured height from the top of my AR rail to the centerline of my optic using a 1" dia scope. Looking for a std mound of 1.5" or slightly heigher. Nikon M-223 mount part #827. Also Nikon makes a m-223xr with a 20moa incline for long range shooting, part #743. When they refer to "Long Range" what ranges are they talking about? I plan to shoot 300yds or under at this point, do I need the extra elevation on the mount? Thanks Mike

The M223 mounts are designed to give you a optical center at 1.5''. The 20 moa model will be slightly less, but because of the magnified optic you will not notice the front sight post at all. For 300 yards and less, you really do not need a 20 moa base. Over 500-600 yards is when it really becomes necessary or when your scope has very little internal elevation adjustment.
