Savage Hog Hunter .308

Postby E.W. on Fri Dec 28, 2012 12:06 pm

I've been shopping for a scope for my Savage 11/111 Hog Hunter in .308. My criteria was cost, durability, speed of target acquisition and compact size. I think I've settled on a Redfield Revenge unless some one can sway me. What I am cluless on are rings and mounts. Any suggestions?

A Redfield Revenge would be a great choice, and one I recommend a lot. I have one on a favorite 22 mag, and they are one of the best values in a super durable riflescope. Made by Leupold. No corners cut. For your short action (or especially long action) use a two piece Weaver with the extension front, especially when using a 50mm objective lens due to the shorter mounting area. Front # 412 and rear #46 Weaver bases on your Accutrigger gun to keep costs down with a quality mounting system. Mate them with solid Weaver Cross Lock rings in high height for a clean look.

I selected the following:
scope: ... ticle.html
rings: ... rings.html
But I can not find the Weaver #412 front and #46 rear mounts Steve was talking about. Can anyone point me in the right direction or suggest other options?
