In so many words, no, it is not a good choice. First, it is an entry level scope with all the foibles that come with such a product such as reliability, strength, longevity, light transmission, and tracking, besides having way too much magnification. For all around use you'll need much lower power and better quality. Take a look at the Bushnell 3-9x40 XLT as a starting point.
