Is my new scope defective? help!

Postby aptwo on Wed Feb 20, 2013 1:37 pm

I just bought a Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50mm and the quality is really disappointing. I'm not sure if my expectation is too high for the Zeiss or my lack of experience on rifle scopes causes this disappointment. I hope you guys could enlighten me. My previous scope is a Bushnell elite 3200 3-9x44mm and the quality on this thing is crisp and clear but when I compare it to the Zeiss it seems to be slightly better in clarity and the Zeiss seems to have a white film over the lense or something. Also, the focus is a little weird. At one point it is focused and clear but when I look away or move my head around it seems to go out of focus. I don't think it's my eye because I never had any problems with the Bushnell.

Thanks

The Zeiss is a big step up in magnification from the Bushnell, and with that will come differences. Make sure you are adjusting the AO, adjustable objective, to the distance that you are shooting. That is imperative with that scope. Also, make sure you are using the eyepiece focus. many people think that adjusts the image, when it actually adjusts your eye to the reticle. The Elite is a nice scope, but the Conquest is really known to be a superior scope to many others around its price or below it. With a higher magnification scope, especially dialed up, head placement is critical and any movement could make you need to re set for a shot to get the proper sight picture back and also let your eye re adjust.
