request for info - EOTech HOLOgraphic Weapon Sights or other

Postby listener08 on Tue Aug 10, 2004 1:24 pm

Hi,
I never had heard of this type of product until today, when it was recommended to me.

Not too clear on how it works and what the difference in the Eotech models is (other than sight length and battery type/life). Could you please explain?

I am interested if it is suitable to use it with the G36c, the MP5 and the MP 7 (PDW). Yes, I understand that there are fitting mounts, but is it feasible? Any comments on that, please?

Also, very important for me: Does the placement of the mount require any specialist skills/tools, or can it be done by the weapons operator in field conditions?

Is there any other manufacturer than EOTech and Bushnell (perhaps Swarovski)? Which one is the best available product of this type

Thanks for your time
TB
PS: I like that you are holding Swarovski is high regard. It pleases me that Austrian quality is recognized and appreciated.

EOTech Weapon sight

Postby Stan @ Opticsplanet on Tue Aug 10, 2004 3:55 pm

Thank you for your interest in www.OpticsPlanet.com. There are three different series of EOTech sights available; the 500 series, http://www.opticsplanet.com/eotech-holo ... t-500.html, The 510, http://www.opticsplanet.com/eotech-holo ... t-510.html, and 550, http://www.opticsplanet.com/eotech-holo ... t-550.html.

The 500-502, http://www.opticsplanet.com/eotech-holo ... t-500.html, is the base model. This is not the revision F, only takes N batteries, and has no hood.

The 510, http://www.opticsplanet.com/eotech-holo ... t-510.html, has a few variations, all revision F. The 511-A65 is an N battery, with standard reticle. There are 3 other 511 with non-lethal reticles. There is also the 512-A65, which is a AA with standard reticle. The have the hood.

The 550 series, http://www.opticsplanet.com/eotech-holo ... t-550.html, has two models, revision F, with hood and night vision compatible. The 551 uses N batteries. The 552 uses AA batteries.

I hope this has been helpful. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.
Best Regards,
Stan Mack

holographic weapon sights

Postby listener08 on Wed Aug 11, 2004 9:43 am

Thank you for your answer.
The following questions, however, remain open:
Is it suitable to use it with the H&K G36C, the MP5 and the MP 7 (PDW).
Yes, I understand that there are fitting mounts, but is it feasible (i.e.: is the mounted scope on the H&K G36C perphaps better? What is the advantage of using a holographic sight over the standard sight of the G36)? Any comments on that, please?

Does the placement of the mount on the a/m weapons require any specialist skills/tools, or can it be done by the weapons operator in field conditions?

Is there any other manufacturer than EOTech and Bushnell (perhaps Swarovski)? Which one is the best available product of this type
thanks
