Sightron 3-9x42 or Nikon 3-9x40

Postby Iam74Gibson on Thu Sep 30, 2004 3:33 pm

I just bought a Tikka t3 300wsm. I am trying to decide on a scope in the $200 arena. I have been looking at these 2 scopes. I plan to get the rifle Camo Dipped, so the Nikon realtree is attractive, otherwise it will cost $40 to have the scope dipped.

The area I am currently hunting will probably not have a shot past 150 yds. But that may change in the future. Is one of these scope clearly superior to the other? Any other recommendations? This is my first rifle so I am scope illiterate  Is this a good all around scope(s) Or shoud I go for 2-7x32?

Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil

Both of the Sightron 3-9x42 or the Nikon 3-9x40 are good scopes and will handle nearly all your shooting needs at those ranges. I can't vouch for the Sightron as I have not had the opportunity to use one, but I can vouch for the Nikon. In fact, I can safely say that all Nikon riflescopes have excellent optics and are good choices for any rifle.
