How to keep scope from moving?

Postby Wolf Lobo on Sun Oct 24, 2004 9:27 pm

I have a .44mag revolver and mounted a Burris scope. The problem is the scope keeps moving from the recoil. I also just bought a .338 Win. Mag. and want to mount a scope on it and don't want the scope to move from the recoil.

Hi Wolf

If your scope is moving in the rings, you can add a thin strip of adhesive/friction tape available from gunsmith supply houses like Brownells,http://www.brownells.com/Default.aspx

If the bases are moving backwards due to recoil, you might be able to find some recoil stops for them, likewise at Brownells.

Lastly, be sure that your scope has not shaken something loose internally. Even a good scope like a Burris can have something inside slip if the scope has been moving in the mounts.
