mag calibers

Postby Roger L on Sun Dec 05, 2004 8:21 am

I have a BSA 3.5-10 x 50 cateye on a 300 winmag that seems to move around alot. I can get it zeroed but after 4-5 more rounds it's off to the races. Does anyone think the Mag caliber is too much concussion for some scopes? Any suggestions for replacement that won't break the bank?

On mag calibers the riflescope often gets the blame when it is actually the mounts that are at fault. Be sure to check your mounts for tightness. Rifle bedding can also be a problem after a barrel heats up.

If the rifle still won't hold its zero, time to check the scope. These days even low -priced scopes are designed for heavy recoil, but as always, you get what you pay for in riflescopes. Moving up to a better quality scope is always a good idea.
