scope for .22 pistol???
hey there- i'm looking for a scope for my buck mark .22 pistol and i'm trying to find out what my best choices are. because of the lack of funds, i'm limiting myself to no more then $60 (give or take)..
i've been checking out my options and can't seem to figure out what is best.. red dot vs crosshair etc... so, if any of you folks have experience with both styles, can you tell me the pro's/con's... i hear red dots are kind of hard to see outside in bright light but are good for easy & fast aquisitions?...
as for the type of use... well, target & small game hunting @ least 50yds out...
i appreciate any info given... thanks!

Hi
Red dots are fast to get on target, easy to steady and fun to use, but they offer no magnification. If your primary reason for going to a scope is accuracy, go with a standard pistol scope, but keep the magnification at 2x if this is your first pistol scope. Anything more is too much to handle first time out.

thanks for the reply... however, my next question is... what 'regular' pistol scopes also have an illuminated crosshair (if there's such a thing).. the only reason i ask is because when i do go to the ranges, most tend to be kind of dark where crosshairs might be difficult to see...

they do exist
I have seen illuminated pistol scopes starting as low as $49.95, I know they exist, don't know how good they are. Lets see if Optics Planet has any. Like Joanie said, 2X is all you really want for now.

Re: scope for .22 pistol???
I'm wanting a scope for my S&W 22a. I have found it really hard to find info for a 22lr scope. I've been looking at: NcSTAR Illuminated Pistol & Long Eye Relief Scope - 4x32 Silver Pistol Scope / Blue / Ring SEPS432B Riflescope Rifle scope w/ FREE UPS, but don't know if I can mount it on my 22a. I just don't know what would be the best scope for plinking at about 30yds or a jack rabbit hunt (southern NM has a lot of them) at about the same distance.

Re: scope for .22 pistol???
That NcStar scope would work well for you. I would also recommend looking at a red dot sight. They are great for plinking and work extremely well if you need to hit a moving target. The Tasco Red Dot 1x30mm would be a great choice. The 1X magnification will enable you to more easily stay on target with both eyes open and help with quick target acquisition.
