best scope for a 30-06

Postby Seamust on Wed Dec 13, 2006 8:15 pm

I just bought a new Ruger Model 77 Mark II in caliber 30-06. It may be
used as a deer rifle or just a 'fun' gun. I don't anticipate any shooting beyond 200 yards and more likely in the 100-150 yard range. It will mostly be shot at a shooting range with rare trips to the field. It comes with 1'' integral rings. What all purpose scope (s) would you recommend for this rifle? I won't use it often but would like it to be accurate when needed. Thanks ahead of time.

Hi

A standard 3-9x40 or 2-10x40 class riflescope will do anything you need to
do for big game out to 200 yards and beyond and still do a nice job at
shorter ranges. A good, median priced scope in a 3-9x40 includes the
Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40, the Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40, and the Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40.
